It's all about the fleece this month - our Product of the Month - and just the right time of year for it as well. Although to be fair, the fleece is something that we probably use, all year round and I think it would be pretty safe to assume that everybody reading this, owns at least one fleece. Whether it's a jacket or a jumper, we've all got one, because, as one of our lovely customer's describes it, the fleece is the King of Cosy. So it may not be about to win any High Street Fashion Awards, but the fleece has found a place to stay in everybody's wardrobe.
The fleece does get a bit of a hard time when it comes to style and fashion too and I think we need to put that straight. It has a bit of a reputation for being something that your Grandad might wear up to the allotment, to keep off the chill, when his cardi won't do. Or something heavy and chunky that mountaineers wear at the top of Everest to keep them warm. Or maybe worse than that, is the thought that your fleece will end up all bally, after a few washes. Things have come a long way since the birth of the fleece jacket in the '70's and that includes the technology of the fabrics used, as well as the styles and colours it's made in.
These days your fleece could be a lightweight microfleece, it could be a fitted ladies tailored style and it is more than likely that it will come in a huge array of bright and trendy colours too.
Whilst you wouldn't want to wear your fleece to your sister's wedding, I think it's fair to say that a fleece jacket doesn't ever really look out of place. You can use a fleece for layering and wear it under jackets, or wear it on its own. You can wear it for outdoors or indoors. You can wear it for work uniforms and for school uniforms. You can wear it for sport, you can wear it for spectating and supporting your sport. You can wear it in the depths of Winter and still be wearing it during the height of Summer months too.
So, taking all that into account, this month we are celebrating the fleece! Hopefully, you can now see just how flexible this little dark horse can be too!
